MY BACKGROUNDI studied fashion design womenswear at the London College of Fashion, graduating in 2010. I have been passionate about sewing and drawing since I was small and had dreamed of entering the world of design and making. Alongside this love of creativity I aspired to teach, and subsequently trained as a teacher of Textiles and Food Technology. These two pathways have led to expertise in the technical elements of design and making, and the ability to teach them too. At the heart of these two passions is my interest in ethical and sustainable design, making and lifestyle which are united in the running of Sew Darn Good. |
SEW DARN GOOD
Sew Darn Good provides opportunities to support and facilitate both experienced and inexperienced creatives with a specific interest in sewing and textiles-based crafts in an affordable and accessible way.
Creative activities such as sewing have been found to reduce stress levels and increase good feelings. Learning a new skill and being able to use it to make beautiful things, or repair damaged clothes gives one a great sense of achievement and empowerment.
Taking care of what you have, investing in well made, well fit clothing, and learning new practical skills is more important than ever with the continued and growing threat of diminishing resources caused by a culture of over consumption. Can we work together to buy less new stuff, invest in items we will love, and treasure what we already have?
